ABOUT US
The Humans

Name : Jade | Kate

Date : 1981 | 1988

Model : Aussie | Pommie

Engine : 16YR (Lagavulin)

Mileage : Unknown

We met in early 2017 on the Queensland / Northern Territory border (basically in the middle of nowhere) in the top end of Australia.

We connected over a shared love of remote wilderness adventure. Jade (an aircraft engineer by day, and musician by night) is a qualified mechanic, and experienced 4WD enthusiast, and had already travelled through a lot of Australia having had The White Ox for 12 years, as well as various lesser vehicles that we don't mention in front of the Ox...

Kate, an artist and photographer, is originally from London where she worked as a theatre technician in the West End. She has spent her adult life trying to experience as much of the planet as possible, having travelled extensively through Europe, Asia and Africa, and now hoping to scratch the surface on Australia and it's vast & beautiful outback.

We have a shared obsession with exploring the parts on the maps where there aren't so many lines, as well as mutual enjoyment of twirling spanners and getting covered in grease, oil, & metal splinters, though neither of us can explain why.

The Truck

Name : The White Ox

Date : 1991

Model : Landcruiser Troopy HZJ75

Engine : 4.2l 1HZ (Diesel)

Mileage : 500,000km

Keeping the Ox in tip top condition is an ongoing labour of love. Suffice to say she's a meticulously maintained unit although we ask a lot of her and over the years she has taken on some very tough tracks and spends most of her life off the beaten track. Ox is certainly no Toorak tractor!

We're constantly updating and improving her, but we are particular about what bits go on her and source only the best aftermarket gear and genuine Toyota parts. Reliability and durability is the land cruiser's traditional strongpoint and we want to make sure we do our best to uphold those essential qualities. Having said that, here's a few specs that may be of interest:
